What is the mind-body connection?
There are many neurological connections that run within the body. The brain and body are connected through neural pathways made up of neurotransmitters, hormones and chemicals. These pathways transmit signals between the body and the brain to control our everyday functions, from breathing, digestion and pain sensations to movement, thinking and feeling.
The mind–body connection is the link between a person’s thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours and their physical health. While scientists have long understood that our emotions can affect our bodies, we’re just now beginning to understand how emotions influence health and longevity.
“The mind and body are the same system; every cell is eavesdropping on your internal dialogue” Deepak Chopra
Evidence of Mind-Body Connection
Mind-Body Connection can be evidenced with the famous story of Dr. Joe Dispenza. He revealed that the process of meditation and visualisation lead him to heal his broken spine. He had a prognosis of never being able to walk again, to now living pain free and now teaching others his methods.
Mind and body connection – Show me the lemons!!!
Let’s give it a go…
I want you to close your eyes and put out your hand in front of you. Now imagine that there is a big fat juicy lemon in the palm of your hand. That’s right.
I want you to now feel the weight of the lemon as it sits in the palm of your hand.
I want you to now bring the lemon to your nose and take a big sniff of the lemon, smelling all the fresh citrus aromas.
Now, imagine taking a bite of the lemon and tasting its sharp citrus juices.
Now, open your eyes and look at the palm of your hand. THERE IS NO LEMON!!!
What happened just now?
Did you feel the heaviness of the lemon in your hand?
What did you smell?
Was there any changes in your mouth when you tasted the lemon?
As I said, THERE IS NO LEMON!!!!
Your mind imagined that lemon and your body reacted accordingly, how amazing.
Can the mind-body connection really affect or improve your fertility?
A study investigated the impact of depression on fertility, women who were undergoing IVF were evaluated on their mood state or level of depression prior to treatment. The women who had an elevated state of depression had less than half the conception rate of women with good mood levels.
Negative emotions hugely impact your fertility as the stress hormones are released causing a sympathetic state, meaning blood is directed away from the reproductive and digestive systems. This is not helpful if you are trying to supply your reproductive system with the nourishment it needs for conception.
We also know that libido is affected by a low mood and therefore, the last thing you want to do is hit the sack for some hot love making.
If Dr. Joe Dispenza could heal his back with his mind, just think what you are capable of with your mind. What can you fix internally?
